Hello and welcome to the dedicated page of Bath History & Scandals Tours. Here we will do our very best to explain our scandal-filled tours of Bath and answer any questions you might have. In a nutshell, our daytime tours are indeed a lot of fun, being filled with colourful stories of the history and scandals that are part of the fabric of this beautiful city. Tours run daily between Weds and Sundays from May until the end of September at 12.30pm, and last for approximately 2 hours.

Bath is quite possibly the most beautiful city in England, but it is also one of the most Scandalous!
I know what you're already thinking, that's the Royal Crescent, how lovely, how refined, how so very Austen-ish. Well yes that's all correct, even to the point of there being film crews regularly encamped and shooting some charming costumed delight up there on the cobblestones, but it is also just crammed with stories, scandalous stories, as are all of the major pieces of Georgian architecture in this gorgeous city. Come on the tour and we'll tell you all bout them, and we'll even share some of the more darker secrets with you!
Bath History & Scandals Tours

The Tours
The Bath History and Scandals Tour is quite simply, the most entertaining way of discovering Georgian Bath, in all of its glory. 2 hours of fascinating facts and shocking secrets whilst seeing all of the main sites of this most beautiful of cities. The History and Scandals tour is a most enlightening blend of historical narrative filled with rumours aplenty of double-dealing, dubious characters, wicked gossip and indeed downright criminality amongst the fashionable classes. If you can imagine the celebrated novelist Jane Austen taking part in rowdy weekend, better known as a hen-party, and causing absolute mayhem, then perhaps you have some idea of what we are offering!

What will you see & hear?
Well, as the tin says, History and Scandals! We are very true to our word on this tour. You will of course discover the history behind this beautiful city and you'll see all of the most important sites, but as promised, we share with you, some of the many secrets and scandals that lie just beneath the surface and facade of our celebrated town. The details aren't too shocking we promise, but you will be amazed and come away with a very different perspective of Bath, and very likely, giggling as you do so.

Where will you go?
We begin our tour in the main Abbey Courtyard of the city. Basically head towards the Romand Baths or the Bath Abbey itself, and you'll find us wearing top hats and waiting for you.
We will show you many delights of this city including the Abbey, the Roman Baths, Pulteney Bridge, the modern Baths, The Theatre Royal, Queens Square, The Assembly Rooms, The Circus and of course that Royal Crescent place. There will also be a few unexpected stops/secrets along the way, but we'll save that for the tour itself.

The Guides
Who We Are

Mr Elliott
Head guide and failed financier
Mr Elliott is our head guide and indeed some might say, our guiding light! A man of business and stories, he has made it his passion to unearth the secrets that were hiding in the records and the histories of this remarkable city. He started many years ago of course, and used to be seen leading the giggling masses through the streets of Bath, dressed just as you see here. First he would charm them, then shock them but always entertain them.
These days rather sadly, it is a rare event that brings Mr Elliott back out onto the streets for the tours. The baton has been passed on as it were, and today, poor Mr Elliott has to do all the pesky paperwork and dull management duties.

You'll be in a safe pair of hands with Mr Thurston, and he does so love a scandal or two!
Mr Johnathan Atkins

Let him guide you and indeed entertain you, with our own unique blend of the historical truth and the many scandals that lie beneath these oh so pretty streets of Bath.

About Us
Mr Ellliott started these scandl-filled tours of Bath many years ago, originally using the name Bath Regency Walking Tours. He dressed up in his finery and gathered a crowd twice a day during the warmer months of the year, 7 days a week. Even on day one there was plenty of scandal thrown in to the tours, but it became obvious very quickly that the good folk who joined the tours, were after a bit more. Considering the many other tours available in Bath (and there are many, many others!) were all a bit on the dry side, with lists of dates and names etc and with varying degrees of accuracy, it became clear that an even more entertaining approach was desired, hence Bath History & Scandals Tours. At last, visitors to Bath could walk around the beautiful streets, see the sites and hear some of the many wonderful stories that they couldn't hear anywhere else.
